District VI The goal of District VI is to strive to have a positive and productive year for the district regardless of all the current changes and challenges within the profession. Goals have been established to correlate and encourage mentoring within the district and its institutions, increase financial aid training opportunities, and encourage TASFAA participation from all district institutions. With the challenges of Banner implementation across the state, professional unity can assist each institution with individual challenges within District VI as well as across the state of Tennessee. There will be a Fall District VI meeting that all institutions will be encouraged to attend for the NASFAA training. This will occur hopefully sometime between October and December dependent upon the availability of the trainers. District VI hopes to join District V for this training at a convenient meeting place for both districts. Future information will be forthcoming to district members as established. A training session for high school counselors and vocational rehabilitation counselors is being considered for late Fall or early Spring to gear up for College Goal Sunday on February 18. Future information will be forthcoming to district members as established. There is hope to again try to utilize networking opportunities by providing and opportunity for each institution to visit other institutions within the district to evaluate their practices within each institution. This will allow for new ideas and innovative policies to be gained by participants to take back to their own institutions with regard to Banner, loan processes, etc. Due to the implementation of Banner within many of the institutions, this goal will be reviewed as availability arises for participation. A training session will be offered in the spring for the district, topic undecided at this point. Please feel free to offer any suggestions for training events or topics that may be of assistance to your institutions within the district. Please report any announcements regarding new employees, promotions, personal news, etc. for release to the TASFAA community that occur within District VI institutions to milewis@northeaststate.edu. |
